Dan Flynn was
confirmed Monday, June 27th as the new Airport Director for the
Pensacola International Airport.
However, in spite of the fact that Mr. Flynn is well deserving of the
nomination and confirmation by the City Council, I thought it
wasn’t going to happen - at least not tonight.
I arrived at the
Council Chamber around 3:15pm. The
meeting was scheduled to start at 3:30pm. President Bare came to the chambers around
3:20pm. About 3:30pm, Councilman
Terhaar showed up and took his seat. We
needed five for a quorum. The council
executive when looking for Councilman Johnson who called and said he had just
gotten off the interstate. After waiting
about 10 minutes Johnson showed up.
Councilman Spencer showed up with the Mayor.
At 3:45 when Council had a quorum, I made the
motion to confirm Mr. Flynn and got a second. A few minutes was spent thanking Mr. Flynn
for his many years of service to the Airport.
He has a remarkable career with the Airport and is well qualified for
the director position. The vote was
unanimous.
